For my Intellectual Engagement, I attended the BB&N-led seminar "Writing the Screenplay". For this seminar, we met weekly on Wednesdays, and discussed the default, 2-hour format for every screenplay and how it fit into modern movies. Each week during our meeting, we would collectively pick a movie to watch for next week, and one person would pay extra attention to the default screenplay format, and lead a discussion at the start of the next meeting discussing the plot and how it did and didn't fit into the default format. After we discussed the movie and the formatting, we would then start writing our own screenplay using the knowledge of the format, and using techniques and themes that we've noticed from the previous movies we watched.
